A band saw uses a continuous band of toothed metal stretched between two wheels driven by a motor to cut material. The blade itself can come in a variety of sizes and tooth pitches (teeth per inch, or TPI), which enables the machine to be highly versatile. It can be used for basic rip and crosscutting, as well as cutting curves and resawing.
The Jet JWBS-18QT-3 bandsaw has an 18” throat space and maximum blade height of 12”. The table tilts to allow angled cuts.
