A bench grinder uses an abrasive wheel to shape metal, remove burrs, sharpen, and smooth metal surfaces. By mounting the grinder to a bench, you can get more leverage on your work and safely grind down more surfaces. Our grinders are great for steel and stainless steel, and we also have a sanding disc available for sanding aluminum. MADE has two bench grinders, one with grinding wheels on it and the other with buffing wheels.

MADE equips the Jet JBG-10A with 2 grinding wheels: coarse and fine. The coarse grinding wheel is suitable for rough grinding where a considerable amount of metal must be removed or when obtaining a smooth finish is not important. The fine grinding wheel should be used for sharpening tools of grinding to close size tolerances because it removes metal more gradually for precision grinding and gives work a smooth finish.

You can get access to MADE Makerspace’s grinders and metal fabrication studio (or metal shop) by taking some training and getting a membership. Book training here, and learn more about membership on a tour of our shop!
