A bandsaw uses a continuous band of toothed metal stretched between two wheels driven by a motor to cut material. Long straight cuts are not as precise as those possible with the horizontal Band Saw or cold saw. The thicker the material gets, the less accurate the cut will be. With that in mind, the vertical bandsaw is best used for curved cuts that cannot be done with a horizontal bandsaw or cold saw.
The Jet VBS-1610 bandsaw has an 15-½” throat space and maximum blade height of 10”. The table tilts to allow angled cuts.
