A straight stitch only sewing machine can do one stitch only – straight! Simple enough. That means you can stitch forward straight as well as in reverse to anchor a stitch. But it is important to understand that a straight stitch machine still has a lot of versatility. It can be used to do many other things besides sewing a seam together.

The Juki TL-98Q is a high-speed straight stitch and quilting machine. The needle bar is locked in perfect alignment, eliminating “wobbly-looking stitches.” Because the needle plate doesn’t need to accommodate different needle positions (for example, the side-to-side of a zig-zag stitch), it has a very small opening, which is perfect for sewing all fabric types, including delicates, without distortion. To facilitate quilting, it has an extra deep throat space and dual tension knobs to accommodate bulky projects, and offers the space, control, and visibility that sewists need when working on quilts to improve the free-motion quilting experience.

Fequent Questions

What should I bring when I reserve the Straight Stitch?

Bring your own machine needle, bobbin, thread, and material to sew on. You will get details on all of the above when you take the Quilting Access Class. You will also need your own notions (like snaps, zippers, rivets, etc.) and hand tools (scissors, seam rippers, pins, etc.).
